Artist Document
Monica Bonvicini's "Drill 4 Chastity" for Parkett 72 refers to and expands on Marcel Duchamp's "Wedge of Chastity", which Duchamp had made as a wedding present for his wife in 1954. The work seen here in image 1 is a bronze cast from 1963. The original version from 1954 was made in plaster and dental plastic, making the work look like a tooth set in gum (image 2).
