“Boy on TV” is related to Wall’s video & photographic project “Eviction Struggle”; a scene showing a family being evicted, meeting the police on the lawn in front of their house (above). The boy standing outside the house by the front door is the same one shown in “Boy on TV”.
The second example of EVICTION STRUGGLE includes a video component: each performer in the still photograph was filmed in close up in slow motion, from two angles. The first, or primary angle is similar to that from which they are viewed in the still transparency. The second angle gives the close up from a different, even an opposing, point of view. The film clips are all between 2 and 7 seconds in duration. When the work is exhibited, the large transparency is hung on one side of a free-standing wall. On the other side, nine video screens are arrayed in configuration which imitates the relative positions of the performers’ heads in the still composition.
