Maintainers, 2017

Nairy Baghramian‘s two-part sculpture “Maintainers” (for Parkett 100/101) consists of a cast of wax used for polishing aluminum and a seemingly identical aluminum cast. The two objects appear in close relationship and interact throughout the artist‘s serial casting process, as the wax cast is potentially consumed during the polishing act. More here.

In Carsten Höller’s sterling silver necklace “Key to the Laboratory of Doubt” (for Parkett 77), the anamorphic key finds its actual shape only when properly mirrored in the cylinder. More here.

Drill 4 Chastity, 2004

Monica Bonvicini's "Drill 4 Chastity" (for Parkett 72) refers to and expands on Marcel Duchamp's "Wedge of Chastity", which Duchamp had made as a wedding present for his wife in 1954. More here. (A work is available from the archive, please inquire.)

Hearring, 1997

Laurie Anderson's small-scale sculptural sound work “Hearring” (for Parkett 49) can be worn like an earpiece, and delivers a short message of the artist playing the violin and whispering in the listener’s ear. Listen & find more here.

Two Shoes, 1992

Sherrie Levine’s “Two Shoes” (for Parkett 32) is based on a work entitled “Shoe Sale” that Levine staged in New York in 1977. The pair of brown lace-up children’s shoes were produced especially for the artist by an Italian manufacturer. More here. (A work is available from the archive, please inquire.)
