Quote

“Gallagher is a handworking, hand laborer (...). The production of a simple, flat, engaging image is never her sole purpose. This is why she works in print, as well as in painting and in drawing. Process, layers, materials—physicality is everything to her. Flesh is a texture as much as a color. DeLuxe is collage (paper), photomontage (digital), photogravure (the process of printing from an intaglio plate, etched according to a photographic image); it is mounted, built-up and –upon by: abrasion, aquatint, burnishing, drypoint, embrossing, etching, laser cutting, stenciling, tattoo-machine engraving (yes for skin)—adding blue varnish, crystals, cut paper, toy eyeballs, white spaces, glitter, gold leaf, pomade... and this is not even the half of it.” Thyrza Nichols Goodeve Parkett No. 73, 2005
