Fantastic voyage. Reversing his signature process of imitating mechanical reproductive techniques by hand, Polke employs high-tech computer graphics to send an image of a silverware case, pirated via Max Ernst from a 19th century mail order catalogue, on a flight through time, space, and media.

Quote

“Somehow, for all the visual excitement of their collective presence, each picture of Polke’s as it flickers before us, seems simultaneously drawn backward into the time and place of its creation and sucked upward into some wheeling constellation of enduring cultural concerns.” Dave Hickey Parkett No. 30, 1991
